SAM MCLEOD

“I am a 15 year-old sophomore at South Iredell High School. At the beginning of the summer I knew I would have to get stronger for the upcoming school basketball season. That is when I made the decision to go to Anthony and Nick at Discover Fitness. Over the summer months of June, July and August, I worked out with Anthony and Nick three days a week. As a result of this, I was able to put on 11 pounds of muscle, which has significantly helped me on the basketball court. Looking back I don’t think I could have made a better decision. I not only gained muscle, but I learned proper eating habits to maintain weight, as well as, new exercises and the proper form needed to effectively do them. Some of the exercises also helped me increase my agility along with my balance, which are two very important aspects of basketball. All in all I had great experience with Anthony and Nick and I look forward to continuing my training with them throughout the basketball season and school year.  If you are an athlete who is serious about improving yourself in the weight room, I highly suggest going to Anthony and Nick at Discover Fitness.”

“I can't say enough about the impact Anthony Looney had on our baseball team's success this past season. Not only did every kid in our program get bigger and stronger, but their functional strength improved exponentially. The workouts were challenging, but every player in our program had a renewed excitement for being in the weight room. One benefit that stands out for me is that during the postseason our players seemed to have a physical boost that I hadn't seen in previous years. We didn't experience the typical fatigue associated with a long season. We lost seven starters from our 2017 team and were forced to play four freshman in 2018. We ended up having the best year in program history. We set a school record for HR's. We had a player break the state record for runs scored and another player break the state record for hits in a career. We ended up losing in extra-innings in the state championship game, but I can confidently say that without Anthony's influence on our program we would not have attained the same level of success. Abingdon is a small town in the mountains of western Virginia. We have had five players sign division 1 scholarships in the past three years. Anthony Looney has helped prepare those kids for the next level. I highly recommend Anthony and Discover Fitness for your baseball team. I know our program will continue to rely on Anthony for any of our strength and conditioning needs.”

CHRIS NILES

"Just as many others propose as a New Year resolution, I decided that it was time to become a little healthier.  Being almost 40 years old and being the heaviest I’ve ever been my plan was to lose the extra weight I was carrying. 

I started training with Discover Fitness in March 2018 and have not thought twice about the decision as I have had tremendous results.  Anthony can see what his clients are capable of and pushes them right to the edge.  He builds programs specifically for you, focusing on the present, future and your growth.  Sometimes the exercises he has planned for you, you think twice about as you don’t see or feel any short-term effects.  However, he has a game plan that you are unaware of, working smaller and larger muscle groups that you didn’t know you had enabling you to perform better in the long run.  Unknowingly I was strengthening such muscles groups that I no longer suffer from lower back pain. 

The gains made over the past year have far surpassed anything that I thought I could do; most notable is increasing my 135 lb Bench Press to 225 lb, and a 370 lb deadlift.  Anthony has changed my life as I am leaner, healthier and stronger and look forward to what the future holds and what I am capable of next."


LAINEY WYMAN

My name is Lainey Wyman and I am 20 years old.  I have been working out with Anthony looney for about 5 years now. I did sports in high school which kept me active but needed a new plan to keep me fit while I was in college. I train with him in person when I am home for the summer and through an app where he publishes my workouts while I’m at college. Anthony has always been super flexible with me as my schedule changes a lot. I learned how to weight lift with having proper position and now feel confident weight lifting on my own. Over the summer while training with him I accomplished many goals with him but my favorite was being able to deadlift 165 eight times. I am currently studying abroad but that hasn’t stopped him for keeping in contact and pushing me to continue to work out when I’ve taken a little time off.

ROLAND PETERSeN

Anthony has been my personal trainer for over three years. He has inspired me to push myself further than I ever thought possible. Seeing that I was nearly 30 pounds overweight, it has truly been amazing to watch my body's transformation. Anthony never pushes me beyond my capabilities, but rather drives me towards achieving my goals. He constantly monitors our well being and continues to modify each workout to adjust to any specific targets that may need to be addressed. Thank you Anthony for making me want to not just exercise, but to alter my mindset for a lifelong desire to remain physically fit.


WENDY WYMAN

I’m a 52 year old mother of 3 girls and fitness has always been an important part of my life. I started running in my 30s and although I suffered a herniated disk years later, with the help of personal training I have been injury free for over 10 years. Training at Discover Fitness has kept me strong and possibly more in shape than in my younger years. Anthony creates goal-oriented customized programs for his clients with fantastic end results. Proud “old lady”moment: trap bar dead lift max of 230lbs after a 12 week strength and conditioning program. I also had my fastest half marathon times after following these workouts. We can’t turn back the clock on aging but with exceptionally well thought out training practices we can get stronger and better as we age. Check em out-you’ll be glad you did!
